Source: Purdue tight end Gabe Holmes visits Raiders
Purdue tight end Gabe Holmes visited the Oakland Raiders on Thursday, according to a league source.
Holmes caught 17 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns last season.
The 6-foot-5, 258-pounder finished his career with 63 receptions for 552 yards and five touchdowns.
Holmes played in the College Gridiron Showcase all-star game.
Holmes got offered scholarships to Miami and Florida State out of high school. He's the son of an Olympic long jumper.
Holmes played basketball growing up, not playing football until his sophomore year of high school.
Holmes caught nine passes for 69 yards as a junior, dealing with a wrist injury.
As a sophomore, he caught 25 passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns.
