Source: Saints tried out DT Brandon Deaderick

The New Orleans Saints worked out veteran defensive tackle Brandon Deaderick on Monday, according to a league source.

He wasn't immediately signed to a contract.

Deaderick worked out last week for the Kansas City Chiefs.

The former Alabama defensive lineman and New England Patriots seventh-round draft pick played last season for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He recorded nine tackles, a half-sack and a forced fumble before being placed on injured reserve.

Deaderick played for the Patriots for three seasons before being cut last year.

He had 18 tackles, one sack and two forced fumbles in his final season with the Patriots in 2012.

For his career, he has 54 tackles and 5.5 sacks.
