Spagnuolo wants to get away for training camp

The St. Louis Rams are considering getting away this summer.

Coach Steve Spagnuolo believes in taking training camp away from the year-round facility, and he has toured a campus in Rolla, Mo., about 90 minutes from downtown St. Louis. The Rams are considering Missouri University of Science & Technology, formerly known as Missouri-Rolla, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The Rams have trained at their headquarters in Earth City, Mo., the last two summers under Spagnuolo, but he’s wanted to take the team elsewhere and is actively exploring options. The Rams have been at home for the summer for five of the past six years. The facilities in Rolla are considered OK, but there is no artificial surface field.

The Rams used Western Illinois University in Macomb for nine years from 1996 through 2004.
