Sports hernia surgery sidelines Chris Ivory
New Orleans Saints running back Chris Ivory has undergone surgery to repair a sports hernia, coach Sean Payton announced after practice today.
Ivory, who led the team in rushing as a rookie last season when injuries ravaged the depth chart, had been missing training camp as he recovers from foot surgery.
Payton said he expects it to take about three weeks for Ivory to recover, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. The Saints have a full backfield now with Pierre Thomas, first-round draft pick Mark Ingram and free-agent addition Darren Sproles, who is expected to fill the role in the offense previously held by Reggie Bush.
