Stanton gets his wish, dealt to Colts
Drew Stanton's time as a New York Jet was minimal, as the team granted him his wish, dealing him to the Indianapolis Colts.
Rich Cimini of ESPNNew York reports that the Jets have traded Stanton to the Colts for a draft choice, which comes just days after the Jets signed him as a free agent.
Stanton was promised by the Jets to be the team's No. 2 quarterback behind Mark Sanchez after being lured away from the Detroit Lions. But when the Jets acquired Tim Tebow from Denver, it dropped Stanton to No. 3 on the depth chart, prompting him to seek a trade or release.
The deal puts Stanton in position to back up Andrew Luck, who will be the first pick. It also completes an odd circuit of quarterbacks changing teams with Manning going from the Colts to the Broncos, Tebow being shipped from Denver to New York and now Stanton going from New York back to Indy.
