StarCaps ruling coming Thursday
Whether it will be the end of the road for the StarCaps legal maze or not remains to be seen, but Hennepin County (Minn.) judge Gary Larson will rule on the case Thursday, according to Brian Murrphy of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Larson, who presided over a five-day trial in March, will clear the way for the NFL to suspend Minnesota Vikings defensive tackles Kevin Williams and Pat Williams four games for violation of the NFL’s policy on anabolic steroids and related substances, or it go after the league for violating labor rules within the state.
But will it be the end of the case that has gone on for two years? As Murphy reports, the NFL has until May 13 to take the matter to the U.S. Supreme Court. Whichever side comes up on the losing end on Thursday could also take the matter to the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
The NFL suspended the Williams Wall for four games during the 2008 season but they have yet to serve it as a court injunction has hung over the issue. Also at stake is the future of New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith, who faces a four-game suspension for also taking StarCaps.
Stay tuned. The end will be here at some point.
