Steelers defeat Bengals, claim AFC North title
For a moment, it sure looked like Andy Dalton was going to come up huge in a Prime Time game.
With the Bengals down by three, Dalton was marching the Bengals down the field to potentially either tie or go ahead in the ballgame. But after a first-down completion to receiver A.J. Green at the Steelers 31-yard line with 3:51 remaining, Green was hit by Steelers cornerback Antwon Blake and fumbled the ball. Blake recovered and set the Steelers up for what would be the go-ahead score.
On a third-and-8, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw a back shoulder fade to receiver Antonio Brown, which was taken the rest of the way for a 63-yard touchdown. This put Pittsburgh up 27-17, which would be the final score of the game.
WIth the win, Pittsburgh won the AFC North title for the 2014 season.
The Steelers win gives them the No. 3 seed in the playoffs and they'll host Baltimore, the sixth-seed, this Saturday at 8:15 p.m. The fifth-seeded Bengals will visit the fourth-seeded Colts on Sunday.
