The Pittsburgh Steelers promoted safety Ross Ventrone from the practice squad to the active roster.

They cut offensive lineman Wesley Johnson.

Ventrone has been on the practice squad all season.

Ventrone has previous stints with the New England Patriots.

He went undrafted out of Villanova.
