Steelers to sign Ben Tate
The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to sign veteran running back Ben Tate.
The Steelers need him because running back Le'Veon Bell hyperextended his knee.
Tate was was claimed by the Minnesota Vikings on waiver and then cut after previously after being cut by the Cleveland Browns.
Tate played in three games for Minnesota, rushing for 38 yards on 13 carries.
The Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts put in claims the last time he was released. .
Tate had complained repeatedy about his diminished role and having to split time with rookie running backs Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell when he was cut by the Browns.
Tate was signed to a two-year, $6.2 million contract during the offseason.
He was previously a backup for the Texans behind Arian Foster.
