Stephen Davis lands minority coaching gig

One of the most underrated running backs of the last, oh, 15 years or so will get into the coaching business this summer.

Former running back Stephen Davis will have a minority coaching internship in training camp for one of the teams he played for in his ultra-productive 11-year career. Davis will work for the Carolina Panthers, according to the Twitter account of his agent, David Canter.

Davis spent three seasons with the Panthers from 2003 to 2005 and rushed for a career-high 1,444 yards and eight touchdowns in that first season. He topped 1,400 yards three times in his career, the first two times as a member of the Washington Redskins, and also had a 1,318-yard season.

Davis finished his career with 8,052 yards and 65 touchdowns, scoring 17 in 1999 for Washington. Hopefully, he won’t witness any training camp fights like the one he was involved with in Washington with wide receiver Michael Westbrook.
