Stevie Johnson says he is ahead of schedule

Stevie Johnson had groin surgery in late April that Buffalo Bills coach Chan Gailey said would likely keep him out until training camp.

However, Johnson tells the Buffalo News that he feels ready to go and would like to take part in next week's mini-camp work.

"I'm ready to go," Johnson told reporters. "They said it was about six to eight [weeks for recovery], but I'm feeling like I'm ready to be out there, and I think we're moving towards that next week.

"We'll see how things go. As of now, they're saying I'll be out there to get some reps."

Johnson said he is eager to take part in drills and begin running routes against receivers.
