Surgery will sideline Patriots' Chung

New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung underwent surgery this week to stabilize his broken thumb, and will miss Sunday's game vs. Buffalo.

Ian Rapaport of the Boston Herald reported that Chung had the surgery to stabilize the thumb, which he broke in Sunday's victory over the San Diego Chargers.

The good news for Chung and the Patriots is that the injury is not expected to keep him out of the lineup beyond this week.

There was other bad news besides Chung's surgery for the Pats, as defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth was out of Thursday's practice with a back problem. Haynesworth has had occasional flare-ups in his back over the course of his career.
