Tavon Austin: Playing in the NFL harder than initially thought
Note to Tavon Austin: The NFL is not the Big East.
Nor is it the Big 12, where he spent his final collegiate season in with West Virginia. The NFL features some of the best athletes in the world, which would make any receiver's entry into it tough if you're placed on a below average team.
It appears Austin believed he'd have a bigger impact than what he's done so far as a rookie with the Rams. For the season, Austin has just 207 receiving yards.
"This isn't supposed to be easy," Austin said, via the Associated Press. "Maybe it was a little harder than I thought at first. But all I can do is keep working."
Austin will still have time to live up to being a top 10 pick this past draft. The Rams will look to rebuild their offense this offseason most likely, starting with an offensive line that's struggled for most of the season.
Meanwhile, all Austin can do is continue learning on the fly during the second half of his first NFL season.
"It's all about patience and I'm sure my time will come," Austin said. "I'm learning what it takes to be successful and I'm doing the things the coaches tell me."
