Taylor Lewan learning right tackle in Tennessee
Taylor Lewan will likely be the left tackle of the future in Tennessee.
But for his rookie season, it appears the organization wants him to play the right side. But that may wind up being in backup duty if he's unable to unseat Michael Oher, who the organization signed in free agency earlier this offseason.
Michael Roos is in the final year of his contract and will be the starting left tackle. While Lewan figures to still receive practice reps there, he's also been playing on the right side during offseason workouts.
"I know this for sure," offensive line coach Bob Bostad told The Tennesseean. "Taylor has to be able to play both sides."
It sounds like letting Lewan learn the ropes of the offensive scheme in his first year might be beneficial since some solid veterans are in place. But with Lewan on board, the Titans could afford to let Roos walk in free agency and let him take over in year two.
