Taylor Lewan's ex-girlfriend claims lineman punched Ohio State fan

Remember when Taylor Lewan said that he was merely breaking up a fight on Dec. 1 and didn't assault anyone following Ohio State's 42-41 over his Michigan Wolverines?

Someone that used to be fairly close to the left tackle disagrees.

According to police documents, via The Tennesseean, Alexandra Dileo, Lewan's ex-girlfriend and sister of former Michigan receiver Drew Dileo, claims that Lewan isn't telling the truth.

Dileo stated that Lewan punched James Hughes, a Denver resident and Ohio State fan.

"He knocked the guy to the ground and he punched him," Dileo told Ann Arbor, Mich. police.

This contradicts Lewan's claim that he was breaking up a fight at a bar. He was taken by the Tennessee Titans in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft.

Dileo acknowledged that some might think she's bending the truth since she and Lewan are no longer a couple. But in her words to police, "Taylor is lying."

This is definitely a bad look for Lewan based on his public comments stating otherwise. If authorities conclude that Lewan did in fact assault Hughes, then Lewan, as a rookie, will already have a reputation as someone that is unwilling to tell the truth. The cover-up is generally worse than the crime. If what Dileo said is true, Lewan should have kept his mouth shut on the issue, referring any questions to his attorney.
