Teams already recruiting potential UDFAs
The NFL Draft hasn't even started, and already some teams are geting a head start in the process of locating potential undrafted free agents, says Jason La Canfora of NFL Network.
According to the report, Ravens coach John Harbaugh has sent out text messages to come 2012 draft eligibles telling them the team has interest in them if they are not drafted, and they should call if they have any questions.
The Philadelphia Eagles sent out letters last year to some of the fringe prospects, hoping to plant a seed for them to sign, and new Indianapolis Colts GM Ryan Grigson has apparently initiated the same process as he moves from Philly to Indy.
While undrafted free agents are usually not highly coveted players, landing a gem or two without a lot of money invested often not only makes a front office and scouting staff look good, it also can help translate into success on the field.
