Tebow named Broncos' starting QB
Take heart, billboard buyers in Denver and fans who chanted "Tebow! Tebow!" after a loss on Sunday.
Updating our previous report, Tim Tebow is the new starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos, going forward.
The former Heisman Trophy winner saw his first action of the season at quarterback in Sunday's 29-24 loss to the San Diego Chargers in relief of Kyle Orton and nearly rallied Denver to victory after the Broncos trailed 23-10 at halftime.
The Broncos have a bye this week, giving Tebow the chance to smooth out some of the rough spots before he would make his first start in Miami on Oct. 23. He fumbled three snaps against the Chargers.
However, he also energized the offense in the second half with both his running and passing and directed a pair of scoring drives in the process. The move to Tebow is really the only option Broncos coach John Fox had, given the Broncos' 1-4 record and the need to see if Tebow can actually become a quality starter in the NFL.
After all, Orton, after a 6-0 start his first season in Denver, had gone 6-21 as a starter since then.
