Tebow struggles as Brady returns

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady displayed there's nothing seriously wrong with his mildly sprained left knee.

He completed his first 11 passes, going 8 for 8 for 72 yards on the opening drive he capped with a 26-yard touchdown pass to Danny Amendola followed by a two-point conversion pass to Zach Sudfield.

Brady finished 11 of 12 for 107 yards and a 131.6 quarterback rating. He wore a brace on his left knee after his practice scare from earlier this week.

"Oh man, Brady is Brady," Buccaneers safety Dashon Goldson said. "Phenomenal."

After backup Ryan Mallett completed 12 of 20 passes for 137 yards with a touchdown pass to Sudfield, former Heisman Trophy quarterback Tim Tebow stunk up the joint.

Tebow completed 1 of 7 passes for minus-1 yard with an interception. Tebow did rush for 30 yards on six carries.

‘It was definitely something I shouldn’t have thrown,’’ Tebow said. ‘‘You want to do your best and play to the best of your ability and have it all go right, and sometimes it doesn't. You just have to keep going.’’

If he keeps playing this way, Tebow might be going off the roster at some point.
