Teddy Bridgewater, Jadaveon Clowney declare for NFL draft

Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and South Carolina defensive end Jadaveon Clowney both announced today that they are declaring early for the NFL draft.

Bridgewater passed for 31 touchdowns this season, foregoing his senior season.

"This was an extremely difficult decision for me," Bridgewater said in a statement."I can't express how much my time at Louisville has meant to me. These past three years have allowed me to mature as a person and leave the university as a better person and with my degree in hand, which was one of my goals. I will cherish every moment on the field and off the field, and every bond I built."

Bridgewater, 21, is the top-ranked quarterback and a potential No. 1 overall picl.

Bridgewater threw for a career-high 447 yards and three touchdowns and earned MVP honors as Louisville beat Miami 36-9 in the Russell Athletic Bowl.

In three seasons as a starter, Bridgewater finished third school history with 9,817 passing yards and 72 touchdown passes.

Meanwhile, Clowney said he's going pro after a win over Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl.

Clowney recorded a team-record 13.5 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss as a sophomore, earned unanimous All-America honors and finished sixth in the Heisman Trophy voting.

Dealing wiht injuries and extra blocking, Clowney slumped to three sacks and 36 tackles as a junior.

He finishes his college career with 24 sacks and 127 tackles.
