Terrell Thomas confident in comeback, says 'I'm the starter'

The New York Giants went through a rash of injuries early last year, issues the team had to overcome en route to the Super Bowl.

Perhaps none was bigger than the loss of cornerback Terrell Thomas. He suffered a torn ACL in a preseason game against the Chicago Bears and was lost for the season. Thomas is back now and he says he’s ready and that he intends to regain his starting role.

I have no limitations entering camp,” Thomas announced on his personal Web site. “Obviously, (the training staff) will be monitoring me throughout camp. The road just started. I have a lot of work to do.

“I just want to let you know that I have been working real hard. I am determined to get to the same form as last year and to be a great addition to our secondary.”

Thomas has said he expects to be in a starting role when he returns.

“I've said I'm the starter, and they brought me back to be the starter, and that is the mindset I have,” he said. “I'm not going to go in saying, ‘Oh, I want to compete for a job.’ No, I'm the starter.”
