Texans acquire Mason from Jets
First, Derrick Mason was benched by the New York Jets. Now he has been traded.
According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle's Twitter feed, Mason was dealt to the Texans on Tuesday in exchange for a conditional draft pick.
Mason, 37, was released by Baltimore once the lockout ended for salary cap purposes. He chose signing with the Jets over going back to the Ravens at a lesser price or re-signing with the Tennessee Titans, where he spent his eight NFL seasons.
Mason will help fill the void in the Texans receiving corps with the hamstring injury suffered by Andre Johnson against Pittsburgh two weeks ago. Johnson was expected to miss at least three weeks with the injury.
Mason has 13 receptions for 115 yards thus far this season.
