Texans likely to stick with struggling Bullock

The Houston Texans apparently will stick with struggling kicker Randy Bullock - for now.

Bullock was 0-for-3 on field goal tries Sunday in an overtime win over the Titans, and is just 1-for-5 thus far this season. His one make, however, was a game-winner in the season opener at San Diego.

On Sunday, Bullock missed twice from 50 yards and was attempting a game-winner from 51 yards at the end of regulation against the Titans, when a bizarre set of circumstances unfolded. Bullock hit the kick, but it didn't count because the Titans called timeout. When he lined up and kicked it a second time, the kick was blocked by Michael Griffin. However, Griffin was offsides on the play, so the kick was retried from 46 yards.

Bullock missed again, but the Titans had called another timeout. That strategy of icing the kicker had seemingly backfired, except that Bullock's fourth try on the kick hit the left upright sending the game to OT where the Texans won.

“We’ve got confidence in Randy,” Texans coach Gary Kubiak told the Houston Chronicle. “We’ll see if we can get him a little bit closer. But we expect him to step up and be strong here and work through this and do a good job for us.”
