Texans open to dealing first pick in second round
The Houston Texans received many trade offers for the first overall pick but decided to stay, taking Jadeveon Clowney on Thursday night.
They'll be in the same position tonight, with the option of taking the best available player to open the second round. However, they may decide to move back as ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the Texans are taking calls about potentially trading the pick.
The Texans still need a quarterback after addressing the defensive side of the ball, but they might not be high enough on Derek Carr to take him at No. 33. Teddy Bridgewater went one spot ahead at 32, the last pick in the first round.
If the Texans have their eyes on another quarterback, trading back makes a lot of sense — add a pick elsewhere and take a player like LSU's Zach Mettenberger in the middle of the second round or early third round.
Plenty of decisions will have to be made from now until the draft resumes.
