Texans strike $22.2 million deal with Clowney

The Houston Texans have struck a four-year, fully guaranteed $22.272 million contract with Jadaveon Clowney, according to the Houston Chronicle.

That includes a $14.518 million signing bonus.

The top overall pick of the draft is projected to play outside linebacker for the Texans.

Clowney recorded a school-record 13.5 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss as a sophomore, earning unanimous All-America honors and finished sixth in the Heisman Trophy voting.

Dealing with injuries and extra blocking attention last season, Clowney slumped to three sacks and 36 tackles as a junior. He finished his college career with 24 sacks and 127 tackles.

Clowney has freakish athleticism with a 4.53 in the 40-yard dash at 6-foot-5, 266 pounds.
