Titans boot defensive backs coaches

When Mike Munchak cleaned house of most of the assistant coaches as he assumed command, he retained his former teammate Marcus Robertson as defensive backs coach to the surprise of many.

Part of that might have been that Robertson's former position coach Jerry Gray was hired by Munchak to be defensive coordinator. But that notion ended Wednesday when Robertson and assistant secondary coach Curtis Fuller were both fired.

“I want to thank Marcus and Curtis for their time here. After meeting with the coordinators over the last couple of days, we decided to make this move today,” Munchak said. “Letting Marcus go was not an easy thing. He spent so many great years with this organization as a player, front office employee and a coach. I respect both men, but I wanted to move in a different direction for both of these spots. The interview process might take some time, but we will find the right fits for the secondary room moving forward.”

The firings are part of a complete overhaul that is going on in the Tennessee secondary, as Cortland Finnegan, Michael Griffin, Jordan Babineaux, Chris Hope and Anthony Smith are all free agents.
