Titans' Britt to meet with Goodell Tuesday
Kenny Britt says he will go in to meet with Commissioner Roger Goodell with his chin held high as he discusses a trio of off-field incidents that took place during the lockout.
“I'm being hopeful that nothing happens to me. That's what I keep in my mind,” Britt said. “I plan on coming in and keep my chin high. I was brought to be a man of his word who takes up for his actions. That's how my father raised me up and that's how I'll go in tomorrow.”
An NFL spokesman said last week that the discipline for Britt was “pending,” Titans receiver knew that the league would be asking to speak with him about the matters before the season began.
That notification came a couple of days ago, and Britt will head to New York on Tuesday morning to discuss his situation with the commissioner.
“I guess they finally found me. We'll meet tomorrow and see what happens. (I found out) a couple of days ago. I don't know the exact time it came in, but it came in and we know we've got to meet tomorrow,” Britt said.
Britt was involved in a car chase in New Jersey in April in which he even abandoned his blue Porsche. He entered a guilty plea for careless driving in that matter. Britt also faces three charges of disorderly person in New Jersey, stemming from an incident where police believed he had a cigar containing marijuana.
And finally, Britt is facing two counts of falsifying information on his driver's license application in Tennessee.
Britt said he has learned from his transgressions and hopes to avoid being suspended, something that might be contested given that he technically was not an NFL employee during the lockout.
“We'll have a sit down, I'll tell Goodell what happened. He'll see where my mind is at, see where I'm at,” he said. “We all go through some things in our life. We're all allowed to make mistakes as human beings. If you don't learn from them, then I could see some discipline. But I've actually learned from them and I'm going forward and will do what I've got to do for the team.”
