Titans fear Ringer out for season with hand injury
The Tennessee Titans are awaiting final test results, but the fear is that running back Javon Ringer could be lost for the season with a hand injury suffered in Sunday's 22-17 loss to Tennessee.
TitanInsider.com reported, citing a league source, that if Ringer is lost for the year, the team could be deciding between two running backs as possible replacements. One is Herb Donaldson, who has been on the practice squad for two seasons, and could help on special teams.
The other possibility is much more high profile, as former Denver and Washington star running back Clinton Portis, who worked out for the team in September, is under consideration.
The Titans also have rookie Jamie Harper on the roster, and if they decide they are OK with just two running backs on the 53-man roster, they could put Ringer on IR to clear a spot for linebacker Kevin Malast, who has been signed off Jacksonville's practice squad to help with injuries there.
