Titans GM expects Jared Cook to be in Tennessee
INDIANAPOLIS _ It sounds as if Jared Cook can stay put with the Tennessee Titans in 2013, and perhaps beyond from the way general manager Ruston Webster spoke here Thursday at the NFL Combine.
"We've always wanted Jared. That hasn't changed and I don't see that changing,” Webster said via TitanInsider. “We're on the same page with the coaching staff that way.
“I would think he would be with us next year. He's a big part of our offense. How it gets done, we'll just have to see.”
Cook, who had 44 catches a year ago, is in the final year of his contract, and though Webster will meet with his agent here at the Combine, there is certainly no guarantee those talks with spark a deal. In that event, the Titans are likely to apply the $5.96 million franchise tag on Cook to keep him in Tennessee.
In addition to Cook, other Titans free agent priorities include kicker Rob Bironas, defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks and kick returner Darius Reynaud.
