Titans lose Jason Jones for rest of the year

From Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean:

Titans defensive tackle Jason Jones was scheduled for season-ending shoulder surgery on Wednesday and will miss the remainder of the season.

The Titans are expected to place the second-year pro on injured reserve in the near future.

Coach Jeff Fisher said Jones suffered a mild rotator cuff tear.

Jones, a second round draft pick last year, missed five games this season. He suffered the injury in the Sept. 27 game against the Jets.

“He did the best he could, he just felt like he wasn’t able to protect himself,’’ Fisher said. “He can get an early start on his rehab.’’

Jones was effective when he played, posting four sacks in seven games. Despite the missed time, he’s tied with defensive end William Hayes and defensive tackle Tony Brown in sacks.
