Titans release Eugene Amano

Tennessee Titans center Eugene Amano has been released, the Titans announced on Thursday.

Amano, who had been with the club since being a seventh-round pick in 2003, was waived and immediately becomes a free agent, as the Titans save a net of just over $2.4 million against the cap.

Amano missed all of last year with a torn triceps injury in training camp that required surgery. The veteran center signed a $25.8 million extension in 2010 and moved that year from being a starting guard to being a starting center.

His time in Tennessee, however, was over when the team tendered center Fernando Velasco at a second-round level, then signed linemen Andy Levitre, Chris Spencer and Rob Turner, plus drafted Chance Warmack and Brian Schwenkie.
