Titans release Ryan Fitzpatrick

After the Titans signed backup quarterback Charlie Whitehurst, it was assumed they'd be parting ways with Ryan Fitzpatrick.

On Friday afternoon, that became a reality.

According to The Tennesseean, Fitzpatrick has been informed of his release. The move keeps the Titans from paying Fitzpatrick a $500,000 roster bonus and his $2.75 million base salary for 2014.

Filling in for an injured Jake Locker in 2013, Fitzpatrick threw for 2,454 yards, 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 11 games played.
