New Tennessee Titans general manager Ruston Webster was asked several questions in a conference call on Tuesday with season ticketholders, some of which dealt with the team's quarterback situation.

Webster said, via TitanInsider, that he is plenty happy with the Titans quarterback situation with Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker, who will compete for the starting role in preseason, and also in a manner of speaking, ruled out a return to Tennessee for Peyton Manning.

It's no surprise that the Titans aren't interest in Manning, should be become available. They like what Hasselbeck did in 2011 and appear eager to see Jake Locker to have a legitimate chance to start perhaps this season.

“Coach (Mike) Munchak has told them they were gonna compete, and that’s the way it’s gonna be,” Webster said. “Jake showed enough during the season to warrant a chance to win the job and he’ll have a good shot to do that. He’s a very talented player. He brings a lot of excitement to the game, and we are as excited as you are about bringing him out there. It’ll be a good competition. It won’t just be Matt’s job, and Matt knows that. The best man will win.”

On Manning, Webster said, "Obviously, Peyton is a great player, but we also feel like we’re in good hands."

The new GM also said he believes receiver Kenny Britt will be back from a torn ACL in time to be ready for training camp, and that the team is busy readying for the Combine and evaluating current free agents like cornerback Cortland Finnegan.
