Todd Herremans apologizes for homosexuality tweet
Veteran Philadelphia Eagles guard Todd Herremans would be best served to make news in training camp when he is removed from the physically unable to perform list, where he’s residing with a foot injury, and is finally able to practice.
Instead, Herremans has made news for apologizing for a tweet in which he referenced the HBO show “True Blood” and a “barrage of homosexuality” on the program.
“After speaking with Eagles management, I realize that my tweet earlier was insensitive and tasteless, and for this, I deeply apologize,” Herremans later tweeted. “It was not my intention to offend or hurt anyone.”
His original tweet was also deleted. That is the danger athletes run in having a personal Twitter account. The world can see their thoughts – or tweets – and the quick motion of the thumbs on the keypad can sometimes get an athlete in trouble.
