Tom Coughlin says New Yorkers know who won Super Bowl
A lighthearted Tom Coughlin was able to discuss the arrival of the new quarterback in town.
Of course, the topic came up for Coughlin on Wednesday at the NFL owners meetings, and he had some fun with it a week after the New York Jets traded for the quarterback. It’s a story that has dominated the market for the last week, and surely it will claim big headlines moving forward.
“You know who won the Super Bowl even if we’re not on front page,” Coughlin said, according to the Associated Press. “New Yorkers know.”
The Jets have talked about using Tebow and Mark Sanchez with the newcomer getting maybe 20 snaps a game in a Wildcat look. Coughlin is more traditional and doesn’t believe in rotating quarterbacks.
“I don’t have a lot of experience with that,” he said, smiling. “Once you start to develop your guy, you like him to have the ball in his hand.”
And, he said he has no interest in starting a rotation with his quarterback, Eli Manning.
