Tom Coughlin wants Brandon Jacobs to carry ball more
The New York Giants have told Ahmad Bradshaw that he will be a priority for them once the CBA is ironed out.
If they bring back Bradshaw, he’s apparently going to have to be prepared to share more of the load with Brandon Jacobs. That’s because Giants coach Tom Coughlin said he wants to see his big back get more action in 2011.
Coughlin told reporters on Friday that Jacobs should have received more work in 2010 when he carried the ball only 147 times, his smallest workload since 2006. What else would you expect him to say? He averaged 5.6 yards per carry.
“You look at the end of the year numbers, you'd want him to have a few more carries," Coughlin said. "Brandon was fresher than he's ever been, healthier than he's ever been and probably needs to carry the ball a little bit more."
