Tomlinson says Sunday could be final game
In a candid interview in the New York Jets locker room posted on the team's website, running back LaDainian Tomlinson admits that Sunday's regular-season finale in Miami could be his final NFL game.
The Jets do have slim hopes remaining, but need the Bengals and Titans and either the Raiders or Broncos to lose to reach the postseason, assuming they defeat the Dolphins.
Tomlinson, who needs 35 yards to pass Jerome Bettis for fifth place all-time among NFL rushers, could be winding up what will surely be a Hall of Fame career, with his greatest success coming in San Diego.
Tomlinson said he would like to continue playing, but if it is not in the cards, he will walk away. He is a free agent at the end of the season.
"It just depends on the situation. I’ve said that before. I would love to keep playing, but if the situation is not right, then I won’t. This possibly could be my last game,” Tomlinson said.
