Tony Moeaki goes unclaimed off waivers

Former Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Moeaki cleared waivers today and is now a free agent one day after he was waived from injured reserve with an injury settlement.

Moeaki fractured his scapula during the preseason against the Pittsburgh Steelers and is expected to be ready by the 11th week of the regular season. The injury was regarded as a clean fracture and there was no displacement of the shoulder, which should allow him to return to play soon.

Moeaki had entered training camp healthy and the former Iowa standout could be a good target for teams when he's ready to return from his injury.

Moeaki caught 47 passes for 556 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie.

Last season, Moeaki caught 33 passes for 453 yards and a touchdown.
