Tony Scheffler hobbled in Motown
Brandon Pettigrew is recovering from a torn ACL and now the Detroit Lions have revealed that their other tight end, Tony Scheffler, is battling a foot injury that had him in a boot, according to Nick Cotsonika of the Detroit Free Press.
Scheffler was absebt from an OTA last week and now is in a boot.
“He’s got an irritated foot,” coach Jim Schwartz said. “We just put him in the boot for a little while. He’ll probably be back soon. Nothing big. Just a little bit of irritation.”
We’re not sure “irritated” foots require boots in the spring, but we’ll defer to Schwartz here. Perhaps the irritation is a good explanation for why the team signed journeyman John Madsen earlier this week.
“We’re down a little bit numbers-wise with tight ends, with Scheff not practicing and with Pettigrew only doing some individual stuff,” Schwartz said. “So we wanted to get a look at another guy.”
Hopefully, Scheffler’s irritation will go away soon.
