Turner, Smith on hot seats as Chargers sink
Norv Turner is no stranger to the hot seat during his stints as an NFL head coach, and his backside is no doubt getting warm again.
But with the Chargers mired in a five-game losing streak and setting themselves up to sink out of contention even in the mediocre AFC West, not only is Turner feeling the heat, but long-time general manager A.J. Smith's job security is being questioned as well, writes Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Team president Dean Spanos has issues beyond the team's on-field sluggishness to deal with, as the Chargers have been struggling with ticket sales and trying to convince San Diego they need a new stadium, all the while being one of the teams rumored to be being courted by Los Angeles.
Stay tuned, the fireworks may be just beginning unless Turner can somehow coax another stretch-run resurgence out of the Chargers to grab a playoff spot and once again ward off the unemployment line.
