Tyrann Mathieu hopes Josh Gordon seeks help
If there is anyone that can relate to Josh Gordon's situation, it's Tyrann Mathieu.
When Mathieu was at LSU, he had numerous run-ins with the coaching staff and the law, due to what he has previously described as an addiction to marijuana. With Gordon getting in trouble for reportedly failing a drug test earlier this offseason and a recent arrest for suspicion of DWI, the Browns' standout wide receiver could be facing a lengthy suspension from the NFL.
Mathieu, appearing on the NFL Network, said Gordon needs to re-evaluate his situation and hopefully grow from it.
"[M]ost of the time it takes people to hit rock bottom for them to start believing in themselves, and start seeking help," Mathieu said. "A lot of people could reach out to you, but that doesn't mean you always take that help, take that advice. He just has to want it for himself."
Gordon is a phenomenal talent, having caught 87 passes for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns a year ago. He became the first receiver in NFL history to record back-to-back 200-yard games in the process.
Hopefully Gordon does get his act together and return to the football field at some point. It sure would be a waste if this is the beginning of the end for him.
