Tyvon Branch broke his fibula

Oakland Raiders strong safety Tyvon Branch broke his fibula Sunday, according to ESPN.

Raiders coach Dennis Allen had previously called the injury significant.

With Branch sidelined, the Raiders could plug in Brandian Ross or Usama Young.

“We’ve said from the very beginning that we feel good about our safeties and our depth at the position,” Allen said. “We have some quality players there, and when one guy goes down, another one has to step up. We’ll look for guys like Usama Young and Brandian Ross to play more often and play well.”
