Unable to practice, Shawn Andrews taken to hospital

The setbacks keep coming for the New York Giants.

Left tackle Shawn Andrews, who has battled back problems for more than a week now, was taken to a hospital on Thursday when he was unable to practice, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.

The report indicates it is uncertain whether or not Andrews was admitted, but what is known is the veteran missed nearly all of the 2008 and 2009 seasons as he battled back problems and underwent multiple surgeries. He has been replacing David Diehl, who is sidelined with a hamstring issue.

Andrews played last Sunday in the loss to his former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, after receiving an epidural injection. Will Beatty projects to replace Andrews if he cannot play Sunday against Jacksonville.
