USC Tight End Anthony McCoy
Anthony McCoy: No. 86, TE, 6-5, 255
A big, flexible athlete who displays the ability to bend and fire out of his stance, McCoy is a bit of a strider but does possess a good initial burst to his game when asked to get downfield. He showcases the speed to threaten the seam and does a great job adjusting to the throw and high-pointing the ball. He possesses a long wingspan and looks like a power forward going up for a rebound in jump-ball situations. He exhibits impressive body control as a vertical route runner. He does a nice job selling his routes, planting his foot in the ground and exploding up the field. McCoy displays some natural athleticism and power after the catch and is a tough guy to bring down. But he chops his feet when trying to get out of routes and lacks some polish as an underneath route runner.
He demonstrates a good feel in the pass game, knows how to sit down in zone coverage and will work his way back toward the QB. He lets the ball get into his body too often but has the frame to absorb the hit and hold on to the ball through contact. He's a coordinated blocker whose hands and feet consistently move in sync. He does a nice job reaching targets at the second level and possesses the coordination to extend his long arms and seal in space. McCoy is a natural bender who keeps his base down through contact and generates good power as an inline guy, has the ability to handle defensive ends one-on-one at the next level and is also very smooth in pass protection and can hold his own off the edge. He's one of the nation's top dual blocking/receiving threats and looks like a guy who can walk in and make a positive contribution to an NFL offense as starting tight end.
