Vernon Davis has party planned for Sunday night

The San Francisco 49ers have benefitted greatly as Vernon Davis has matured into the kind of player they always imagined he would be.

They talk now about the tight end being a leader.

He might need some more lessons in leadership, though. According to the New York Daily News, win or lose Davis will be partying on Sunday night following the NFC Championship Game. Davis is throwing an after-party at Manor West, a trendy dance club in San Francisco, on Sunday night.

If that’s not a sign that a player is saying his team will win the game, we’re not sure what is. This is one man being casted as a party man, not a city attempting to plan needed logistics for a post-Super Bowl party.

The club is doing its best to paint it as anything but that.

We’ve been getting a little bit of fuss about it and that’s not what it is at all,” said Jamie Burwood, a spokesman for the club. “It’s not a victory party. It’s a party celebrating the 49ers’ season for making it so far. The party is going on win or lose. Vernon Davis will be there win or lose.”

That fuss is understandable. Davis should be more careful what he chooses to associate himself with in the future.
