Versatile Illinois State runner Marshaun Coprich taking Darren Sproles-like game to NFL

Versatile Illinois State running back Marshaun Coprich has a multi-faceted, versatile skill set that brings to mind Philadelphia Eagles all-purpose running back Darren Sproles' explosive game. "I love making people miss," Coprich told National Football Post. "I love the game of football. I can't wait to showcase what I can do in the NFL." That's the next destination for Coprich, an American Football Coaches Association Football Championship Subdivision All-American selection. Coprich, a muscular, 5-9, 195-pound Walter Camp Football and Associated Press All-American is a two-time Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Year who led the league in every rushing category and with 1,967 rushing yards. He helped Illinois State to a share of the MVFC title for a second-consecutive season and led the Redbirds to the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs for the third time in the last four seasons. "I feel like my versatility will make me stand out to NFL teams," said Coprich, who's represented by veteran NFL agent and former Northwestern All-American and All-Big Ten Conference and Chicago Bears defensive back Chris Martin of OTG Sports Management. "I'm working hard, training to get ready for the next level. I'm confident in myself and what I can do. All I need is a shot. I feel great about everything. I'm excited. I can't wait to work out for teams at our Pro Day." The Victorville, California, native rushed for over 100 yards in 10 games in 2015 and had four games with over 200 yards rushing, including a stretch of three-straight 200-plus yard efforts from Nov. 14 to Dec. 5. He finished his illustrious career with 5,201 rushing yards, second most in MVFC history behind Zach Zenner of South Dakota State, and scored 60 career touchdowns. The California native rushed for 2,269 yards and 29 touchdowns in high school and was an all-state selection as a senior. He returned a kickoff 101 yards for a touchdown. As a junior, he rushed for 1,565 yards and 15 touchdowns. "I got great coaching at Illinois State and that makes a big difference," Coprich said. "Wherever I go, I'm going to bring a lot of character and confidence to an NFL locker room. I'm ready to go. I can't wait to prove myself." aaron.wilson@chron.com twitter.com/AaronWilson_NFL
