Veteran agent Gary Wichard dies

Veteran NFL player agent Gary Wichard has died.

TheBusinessInsider.com reported that Wichard, the founder of Pro Tect Management more than 30 years ago, passed away.

Wichard was a big player in the business, representing, among others, Jason Taylor, Dwight Freeney and Terrell Suggs. An NFL source said that Wichard had been ill.

"I am lost for words right now," client Jimmy Clausen wrote on his personal Twitter account.

He currently was suspended by the NFLPA for an investigation into alleged illegal recruitment of players at North Carolina. Wichard was also being investigated by the state. Previously, he had been sued by former client Brian Bosworth.

The National Football Post sends its condolences to the family and friends of Wichard.
