Vic Fangio speaks the truth when it comes to Megatron

Vic Fangio isn’t going to go Rob Ryan anytime soon.

If you recall, it was Ryan, the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, that said Miles Austin and Dez Bryant are better than Calvin Johnson before his team tangled with the Detroit Lions.

Fangio, the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, went the other direction in advance of his team’s meeting with Megatron on Sunday at Ford Field.

First off, I want to say he would be the best receiver on our team, not the third best,” Fangio said, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee. “So we have a tremendous amount of respect for him."

That’s a smart move and it’s the truth. Johnson is the first receiver in NFL history to have nine touchdown receptions after five games.

"He's listed at 235 (pounds)," Fangio said. "I think he might be more than that. He's just a rare guy. He's that big but yet runs as fast as he does. He's a real challenge for you in the coverage area."
