Vick hoping to remain in Philadelphia past this season

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is hoping to extend his tenure in Philadelphia beyond this season.

He's in a contract year and he's been turnover-prone for the Eagles as they're struggling to win under new coach Chip Kelly.

"I think that's solely up to the direction that this ownership wants to go in," Vick told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "Obviously, I love Philadelphia. I don't want anything more than to bring a championship to this city.

"But the most important thing for me is to keep playing consistently, giving this team the best chance to win. It's hard because . . . I think about my future, I think about me being on a one-year deal. But I don't know what's going to happen. I just want to win."

The Eagles are coming off a 52-20 loss to the Denver Broncos a week ago.

"On the plane ride back from Denver, I literally had tears in my eyes," Vick said. "I want to win so bad. But I just use that as fuel and motivation for the next game. I just can't see the future that far."
