Vick says he gets it, he's got to get down
Michael Vick says he finally gets it. The proof will be in how he plays.
The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback will return this week after missing the previous three games with two fractured ribs. He knows in order to practice a little self-preservation, he needs to protect himself moving forward. And that’s going to mean avoiding some of the big hits he has taken in the past.
So, when the subject came up on Wednesday, Vick took over, interrupting the questioner.
“Sliding. Getting down," Vick said, according to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News. "I've made my mind up. There's going to be times when I can't get the extra yards. I gotta get down. I get too caught up in the game sometimes, but that leads to me being sidelined, not being accountable for the team on Sunday. I don't want to continue to put the team through that."
Vick jokingly said in the past he didn’t know how to slide. Hopefully, he’s worked on tucking one leg under the other and getting down.
"I'm still going to play the way I want to play, I'm just going to get down," Vick said.
We’ll see if he can do that starting Sunday when the Eagles play the Miami Dolphins.
