Vick set to wear new equipment to protect ribs

Now, this is some kind of guarantee.

No, a player hasn’t borrowed from Broadway Joe Namath and made a Super Bowl guarantee.

But a company that designs flak jackets has guaranteed that another quarterback, Michael Vick of the Philadelphia Eagles, will not get hurt. Vick, of course, was taken off the field early in the Eagles’ third preseason game after suffering a blow to the rib area and he’s missed time in the past with rib injuries.

I guarantee he will not get hurt,” Rob Vito, the CEO of Unequal Technologies, told Darren Rovell of ESPN.

Vick is set to wear the protective vest which has Kevlar in it. Vito says it is military-grade.

“I'm looking forward to it … to give me more protection and just to see what comes out of it," Vick told the Philadelphia Daily News. "It's going to be custom-fitted and fitted to protect all across my sternum, across my ribs. I think it'll be a better fit."

Hopefully, Vick will do a better job of staying healthy this season. Perhaps a new vest will help.
